« Avenues Africaines » is a project i work on since summer ‘09 with Israel Yoroba Guebo, an Ivoirien blogger that was awarded in 2008 and 2009 by Deutsche Welle and Panos Institute-West Africa as best francophone blogger. These African avenues consist in websites that are each one dedicated to an African and francophone country. They deliver hyperlocal and citizen information on this specific country. In the context of this project, we have launched three avenues : Avenue225 for Ivory Coast (www.avenue225.com) in September ‘09, Avenue223 for Mali (www.avenue223.com) in December ‘09 and Avenue221 for Senegal (www.avenue221.com) in January ‘09.
The African avenues are free spaces of expression created for those who don’t have it in traditionnal media. They display the african people’ everyday life and what’s hot through the different countries’ regions and cities. « Avenues Africaines » is also a training project on new media. Its goal isn’t just to inform people but also to train african new generations to these new publishing tools and multimedia productions.
